My name is John Marshall Tomlinson.
I’m a small town Mississippian living in the big country of Texas.
I enjoy being outside, anything that has to do with water, and have been known to jump out of an airplane. I am a firm believer in seeing the world at any opportunity and encouraging others to step outside of their comfort zone. A well spent Saturday might include: something active to start the day, brunch with my fiancé and grabbing our pup Sawyer Brown to kick it outside.
I studied Chemical Engineering because I enjoy understanding how the things around me work. I have an appreciation for simple mechanics like, why a door pulls shut when the AC kicks on, what makes Nurf guns awesome, and what it takes to produce decaffeinated coffee for the weak hearted. This degree taught me time management, critical thinking, and that there’s more than one way to approach and solve a problem.
It also taught me how to distill alcohol from mouthwash.
I currently work for the Construction function of a Engineering, Procurement and Construction Company. Throughout my tenure, I’ve gained invaluable construction knowledge while supporting the development of construction software. I train users on the software, act as the liaison between the users and development team, provide customer support for project personnel, and sell the software to internal and external clientele. As part of project support, I identify project champions and insure that they have the toolkit needed to self manage.
I’m seeking growth and leadership in the tech industry.
I have customer support experience, I’m an adaptive learner and I drive a willingness to participate. My goal is to cultivate an environment that makes fast-pace changes and new advancements, manageable and inviting.
I am confident that my skill set is versatile and I’m optimistic about future opportunities.
